Frequently Asked Questions About Business Property Tax Appeals
Commercial property taxes can be confusing. Below are answers to some of our clients’ most frequently asked questions. Please reach out to us with all your additional questions.
Do I own the kind of business that you represent?
We represent a wide variety of companies in Texas — corporations of all sizes, ranging from hotels and retail to franchisees and shopping malls. We handle property tax issues for any and all of these clients across the state from our law offices in Plano.
What should I expect from my initial consultation?
We give you an up-close glimpse of the process we guide you through, starting with a deep investigation into root causes of a property tax dispute, arguments before taxing agencies on your behalf, and striving for the best possible outcome in court if litigation is needed.
Is there a typical reason or reasons for a business real state tax bill to be too high?
Many factors are taken into account to determine your tax burden. A few common reasons for improper tax assessments include overvaluation of properties by assessors and unequal appraisals of properties that are similar.
The last lawyer I hired took my retainer and forgot about me. Can I count on your firm for service that does what you say it will do?
Boling Tejeda PLLC lawyers keep clients regularly updated on all phases of a case. We are equally proud of our promptness and honesty when answering questions, no matter when they arise.
When should I contact your firm?
We represent clients whose property tax appeals have been denied. If your business property tax evaluation was too high, and a third-party agent’s efforts to correct the situation were unsuccessful, we can work with those agents to represent your interests in court.
What type of fee structure do you have?
Our fee structures are flexible and can be negotiated. We will propose fees and can discuss them in detail during your consultation. We can charge clients with a flat fee, contingency fee or blended approach. However, we do not bill hourly. Different cases require different amounts of time and effort. We do not want this to affect your experience with our team.
